So onions what do you think it would take for us to turn the corner this year. We cant blame injuries any more because week by week players are coming back to the fold. In your honest opioion do u think the players are putting the effort in, in trainiing and where do u see us fininshing this year?

Credit where its due. Great performance yesterday. The boys showed some guts to win like that against gilfach. Could this be the turning point for us. Pick of the players for me where owen roberts, David may, The new winger (sorry dont know his name,scud and matthew parfitt. More of the same please pleasure to watch a bit of guts in a mount jersey.

It comes down to preparation and want.

Preparation
The coaches are bad at preparing the team for the games, not fixing what went wrong on saturday coming up with drills that dont solve the problem that the team is not street wise and needs to start competing more aggressively. Mount First nicest boys in South wales. Teams love us cos were so kind, gentle and play within the rules (full of fight on saturday night though).

Players dont want to put their hands up and say this is sh*t they just keep quiet and carry on like there's nothing wrong. Boys your senior players and if you dont stand up and say this is what we need to do and then put it right you'll soon be with Rhigos in the shite and pish.

Think you may find a good couple of Hero's in the Athletic and with a better set up and different leadership (one that could pass a basic skills exam) maybe they would make themselves available again?

Come and watch, they might make you Honoury committee member cos they dont seem to see any of those (ouch)!

I keep reading about all the talent we got in the 2nds. As i spend most weekends watching the 1st i never get to watch the 2nds so i dont really know what talent is there. So please name them so we know what we are missing out on. Dont really agree with sinbad about mount staying within the rules. Penalty count for sat was crazy. i think that we dont know the rules.

Theres only about 5 2nd team players that train, so whats the point

Thats mainly becuse you havnt got enough players who can "play the Game". Thats my point !!!! They need the guidance (are they getting that)?

They are frustrated and not doing what is needed, and we are defintely not agressive , we may however be indiciplined, frustrated and ill-prepared for the challenge.

That comes back to leadership!!

Everything else is scirting around the issue.

Basic Skills Cymru do great sessions on adult literacy and numeracy. I think if the 1xv coaches get the basics right then the wins will follow.

For the Second team, well thats simple either watch them (they are the only team with silver wear every year for 5 years) or wait until the 1XV play against 2XV in a charity match (raise funds for our junior section) any takers!!!!

i dont see what people are gettin so worked up about in here about the 1st XV we are 6th in the league having won 4 and lost 4, we losty 6 last year and were 1 point from promotion. this league is any ones so why are we panicing and slagging the team off. the boys who are in the 1st XV are working hard and want to win, sometimes we just fall short, its sport it happens some one has to loose. we lost againt llantrisant and brynmawr narowly, games that could have been won and they are both in the top half of the league. i think we play the game in the right way, when any thing kicks off we do what needs to be done and always cum out on top, e.g treherbert away we didnt back down. guaranteed rhyd today will be a battle and im sure the team will prove the doubters wrong by geting stuck in as we always do. back to the 2nd team issue there was one 2nd team player training tuesday and not many more thursday so where is their commitment, they are clearly not bothered about playing or pushing for the 1st xv so its no wonder no commitee etc go and watch them. if more 2nds trained then it would put pressure on the 1st xv players making every one perform better if they dont turn up then its the boys who are there week in week out who get picked they are the ones who wnat it.

the boys silenced the doubters again today, ok it wasnt pretty and the ball was forced a bit too much, but a comfortable win which could habe been more emphatic if ball had gone to hand. the boys are showing they are the ones for the job and now may be all the critics will get behind the team and support them. lets see how many 2nds train on tuesday???????

think just some boys in 2nds feel like they can try antrain all they like but the end of the day eynonj and mason got their favourites. Some people can get in to 1sts by just training 1nce a week or just come in when they feel like. Not fair at all !!!!!!!!! why bother training if thats the crack. Just turn up an play cos they dont care about you its favourites vs 2nds

Another good win yesterday lads. Basic`s let us down at times. But ground out good win at end. I think we have finally turned the corner.Rhydfelin not a bad team. But we where better. It seems to me there are a lot of disgruntled 2nd team players using this forum to vent there frustrions. But by the sound of it no one is training so how the hell do they expect to get in 1st. I have asked them to name talent in 2nds but no mention of names. So makes me wonder are there any?

Quite agree with Russian. There's plenty of petty gobbing off on here, there's only one place to do your talking and that's on the pitch. Get training get fitter, become better players for your club because all this bitching is becoming predictable and boring

That's a bit of a hypocritical statement there wouldn't you agree? You say the Seconds are using this forum to vent frustration at one thing or another, when the topic is "why are we so rubbish this year". So to me it's a place for Mount fans to vent their frustration at why the Firsts aren't brushing all aside every week. As for yesterday's performance, it wasn't exaclty champagne rugby lads, the best rugby we played was 5 minutes from the end when Rhydyfelin were out on their feet. Nonetheless, the boys did well and are looking good again in the league all credit to them. As for the Seconds' "situation", you must admit that they're going to feel hard done by in terms of backing by the club in the first place, I mean the Firsts and Youth march into the club with new kit and the Seconds are left out in the cold. However I do agree that if they're to rectify this they're going to have to start showing some more commitment to training regardless if they feel it may be of no use.

Well surely that should be more motivation to get into the 1st side free kit etc. Nobody should get something for nothing. The reason i asked for names was as a supporter if i see weakness in the 1st side. We can discuss on this forum what 2nd team players can fill that role. But it seems to me nobody wants to put there hand up. And thats properly the problem with the 2nds. Its easirt to blame someone else instead of your lack of training. Ok it was not top game of rugby sat. But a wins a win. And that is what we need at mo.

2nds who can do a job in the 1sts who train regularly: Nigel Roberts (ok getting on a bit but so is robbie), Darren Lewis, Garan Hill, Simon Ward, Craig Roberts, Chris Roberts. 3 of them train regularly. The king is right 2nds need to start training to justify the moaning. Rusian cracks me up he said that people are 2 faced slagging people off on the forum and then he comes on as rusian instead of his real name!!!! Lol ! 1st are on a bit of a roll at the moment good to see but a pity to see there is a rift developing between 1sts and 2nds. Watched 2nds play and some of the forwards are so unfit they got no right to moan. Theyu should pull their finger out of their arse and get training.

Having joined the club from a nearby club back in october, i have been injured the last 4 weeks so have been able to watch a lot of first team rugby. At the moment the 1xv are on a roll and doing very well. there is no need for change! having trained every tuesday and thursday since i joined up until i got injured i dont think there are more than 2/3 players who can come from the 2nds at the moment.
So lets just get on with it as a lot of boys in the 2ndxv just love mountain ash rfc and just enjoy turning out and playing a game at 2nd team level.

A classic Example, Craig Thomas A.K.A. Shaggy was a regular 2nd team player back 4 years ago, playing second row, after hard work and dedication he has earned his place in the 1st team, at the moment most of the 2nds are happy to turn up and just have a game of rugby on a saturday. i also cant remember when the last time we had oposition in training on a thursday night!

I'm glad people have voted me as one of the Second team players most likey to get a first team game in the next decade. I shall endeavour to perservior in the cold recesses of the 2ndXV until i reach the Summer of my playing ability.

I would like to take this time to thank my Mam & Dad as i wouldnt be here without them, Scrumpy cider again I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for it and finally Martin Ham.

Can we get an online register to see who is training regulary?

This would help with the forum debat on players.

We can then cross reference attendees against possible weakness/poor choices and debate against unfair selection practices.

We can give the boys additional points for:
1. turning up early and putting flags out
2. Doing the warm-up
3. Understanding Jonny Speedo and Onions Sessions
4. Going to Workmans/Club with coaches on Sunday

Well maybe thats the prob with 2nds. Spending far to long looking for porn on internet, Finding peoples spelling mistakes and slagging people off on here. Heres an idea why dont u try training and stop blaming everyone else for your problems. The reason i have not heard of anybody coming through the 2nds because there is nobody there. Do u honestly believe that that any of those players named previously should get in our 1st team. When you hear there are only 1 or 2 seconds training every week. The question should not be why are our 2nds not breaking into the 1st. But `What is the point in running a 2nds if it is being abused`.
