Why are we so rubbish this year

Why are we so crap this year basically same side. Except one or two. Have the boys got a bit big for there boots thinking the are better then they are. OK we nearly got promoted but that was last season. Means nothing now. We are bottom of league which is unacceptable. Boys stop living on last years reputation and start playing like you can!!!

A bit harsh there i think mate. 1st game we pushed Llantrisant right to the final whistle, a team who i think will be there or there abouts come May. Another one of the top teams, Tredegar also knew they had been in a game up until 60 minutes.

You're right, we haven't played as well as last year, but to date we haven't had our strongest XV on the park. Hopefully, that will change this weekend, as i think a few of the boys are back from injury.

Also, this years league is much tougher than last years in most peoples eyes, with quite a few big spenders in the league. (Did i get right to the point!) Ha

Drew, But we still lost those games mate come may you dont get points for losing the game in the 60th minute. To me the boys are lacking something this year. And lets be honest how many injuries have we actually had. It worries me what will happen when we go away to these top sides.

The end of the day look at selection its a load of boll*cks no consistency with selection, policies are contradictory within the club, "you dont train, you dont play" ha ha ha. There is some people who are starting to get p*ssed off with it all and once the rot starts it will be detremental to the club. Management need to stop contradicting themselves and start playing the players who train every time and play their guts out for 1st and 2nds when they are not involved.

by the way i agree with russian. perhaps we need to think that last year was good season and we cant live up to expecvtation. Although we are not bottom of league team, I think 10 situation had a lot to do with it, plus the wrong 10 has been picked to play against brynmawr he has played since pre season and has played a half for 2nds???? Good selection policy!

a good performance yesterday in the second half we showed a lot of dog but far to many mistakes to make any preasure count. ur right the 10 position is a worry as kicking out of hand is poor. some pack members need to do a bit more dirty work on the floor rather than standing off for a glory run ,,
but at the end of the day we should have beaten one of the better sides in the league yesterday but another loss was to be had.

I agree with brave he. To many forwards not getting there hands dirty. Losing far to much ball because players not commited to ruck. To busy standing out wanting to be match winners. Looked a bit fasically for 1st 40 minutes. Boys looked like they where not up for it defence was shocking. 2nd half looked like a different team. What ever coaches said it worked. Ok pods kicking out of hand was not great but goal kicking was top draw. I thought ref was shocking but used to that now being mount suppoerter.

Another lackluster performance. I think brynmawr showed how poor this league is. 21-0 up half time a half decent side would have killed this game off. I think 1st half was shocking. The players looked like rabbits in head lights. Is there something going on behind the scenes that the supporters are not aware of. Players dont look like they are playing for each other this year. The 2nd half lets be honest mount never looked like getting the wining score. fair play they done well to get back into game but like i stated earlier a half decent side would have killed the game off. Im hoping as a mount supporter that the coaches are working the players to the bone over the autumn break because they bloody need it....

end of the day half the players who are getting picked aint training so what do you expect. Not fit enough to keep up with the game living on last years perfomance, coaches not willing to try others. Ring the changes all round!!!!. Pod shouldn't have played saturday, average first half but very good 2nd half. He is Mr reliable. Owen Roberts should be in the mix as far i am concerned

so Marfc 08 u are obviously somebody who his in the mix. Either a player or someone who watchs the lads train. Heres your chance name and shame the players who are not pulling there weight for this club. And also as a supporter we can see as well be great to know and it might wise the players up. And as far as owen roberts goes he has been out of game a long time do u think he his ready to step up to 1st team rugby.

as a pleyer the problem is players not training twice a week and still getting picked , you can train 4 weeks in a row (8 training days Tuesday and a thursday) and u will not get selected in the 1st 15 u may then get on the bench for the seconds,
but so called people may only turn up thursday night and be first choice in either 1st or seconds.
It doesnt seem fair really to boys who really put the hard work in

i know what everyone is saying but we have not got a strong enough squad to leave players out, it is sad but some players who do train every week are not good enough to play 1st team rugby

How can you say we haven't got strong enough squad we have a full 2nd squad haven't we??? Otherwise there is no point having one as for Owen roberts he has played more rugby this season than mathew parfitt who before the brynmawr game played 1 half for the 2nds all season so you could say he has been out for a while. Its not about naming and shaming players who dont train its about having consistant selection policies. I think that all the players who do get picked are quality and are the best the club got but training is all important.

Bit confused by the above message. You say its not about naming and shaming but u quite easily name matthew parfitt as someone who has not trained. Anyway whats wrong with naming and shaming this is a open forum. And i think that paying supporters would love to know whats going on in the club. And just maybe if those players who are letting there team mates down see there name on here. Maybe there will be embrassed by it all and then pull there fingers out and we can get this season back on track. So i urge any player to be honest and lets see whats going on.

Didn't say tham pod hadn't been training i said he had played less rugby!!!!! heard he is a consistant trainer.

Disappointed with our players. You go in the bar on sat nite and they are slacking everyone off. Yet on this forum they are all gutless. Come on lets have some names.

Russian, its not about naming players it about finding a cause and trying to rectify it. The facts are that 10 has been a major issue but also hooker and 7...as a result it was not only difficult winning 1st phase but ball renention was also a problem. Now that pancho and skud are back and hopefully a consistent 12 we will have a more balanced team cabable of winning 1st phase ball and keeping, as for 10 POD needs to play he may not set the world on fire but he kicks his goals and does control the game and currently that is what we need. The key is continuity in team selection and not chopping and changing we have seen some encouraging signs in the Brynmawr, Caerphilly and dowlais games and if the improvement continues we will soon be climbing the table.

all the talk abou mount picking players who dont train and not picking people who do train is rubbish, mount pick the best 19 players available for a game, why would you put an avergae or not very good player in a 1st xv because hes always training, because he trains doesent mean hes a good player. 1st team rugby is totally diffrent to 2nd team rugby, an average player can servive in the 2nd week in week out but could be totaly out of their depth in the 1st team. i think the rite people are there to do a job but it just hasnt clicked this year so far, people r not hitting the form that they did last year there is no paticular reason for this may be so much effort was put in last year the team is finding it hard to live up to the expectation. the boys are all detrmined to get back on track for themselves and the coaches and would appreciate if people slagging the team off would get behind them instead. now panch is back and scud 1st phase ball should start be more certain and then the team can start to work from there.

I kind of agree with onions it is about selecting the best 15 or 19 but when players do not train (I dont mean missing 1 session now and again, I mean missing 2 weeks at a time) or have several below par games there should be changes made. There are some players who play what ever the circumstances. This can sometimes be unavoidable because sum positions are specialist e.g. front row player and a limited supply.

Naming players either is not the answer (cos that would be great for team bonding most the boys are good mates and are up front with each other) its overcoming the problem so everyone is there and thats where a consistant selection policy comes in. Make some dissicions and stick by your guns then there are also no comebacks when things go tits up cos you stuck by policies

What should be the team/squad picked then???

Just curious with something onions said. What if say for instance someone like meiron did not train at all missed session after session. Would he automatically be picked every week just because there is no one in the 2nds? Surely that is just as bad for team morale!!!!!

The backs i would pick are:-

15. Gavin Roberts (why the hell do we pick him in the centre. He is one of the best full backs the club as had)
14. Simon (cant think of 2nd name. Ginger haired boy)
13. scud (Penallta away last year looked a different class)
12. Adrian owen
11. Dale keeping
10. Matthew parfitt (i think owen roberts is knocking on the door thought)
9. Merion Thomas (Johnathon lock should be given more games. Looked a class act in youth but never been developed just shuffed on wing

as for the training issue id say the 1st xv or 19 are training week in week out more often or not, may be a session is missed here or there but people dont misse traing for weeks at a time, like the example given if meirion missed training for weeks would he be picked, the simple fact is no one who is in the 1st xv on a regular basis ever miss that muvh training. the simple fact is mount do not have the strength in depth to drop players and pick lesser qulaity players just because their always training, some people may always be training but do the work hard in training, may be if people worked harder and improved some areas of their game they would make the first team and therefor benefit mount as a whole by giving competition for places, thats one of the problems that people are not being pushed for places because we do not have enough qulaity in the 2nd team. the 2nd team are poor trainers and only turn up when there is a big game on like when they played abercynon last week so how do they expect to improve and push for the first team. simple fact is that the 1st 19 players and a few others train regular and thats all the coaches have to pick from. also people do not train outsdie of tuesdays and thursdays so are not as fit as they can be and need to train on their own the coaches cant do anyhting about that its up to the individual if they want to suceed or not.

There must be players in the seconds who must be in contention like legs decent game against tredegar didnt do nothing wrong and then dropped?? What about Darren lewis too? Havent played for ages for 1st.

legs and darren good players, dont see them training much though. legs did have a decent game against tredegar but hasnt trained much since and others in that positin are always training so goes to show that people who are training in that position are being picked.
